Lurex was originally a trade name for shiny palstic coated thread or material made from it but has now been downgraded to include any shiny material.
Lurex Aida has metallic or luminous thread woven through it making it quite stiff and rough in texture.
Brokat Lugano is an even weave of similar appearance but much softer in either gold or silver.
Lugana is 25 count making it sew up slightly larger thatn 14 aida if sewn over two threads, but its lovely sheen and opulance makes it ideal for table runners or even clothing.
